I am workspace oriented
1-music, clementine, dolphin, opera 2- chrome, dolphin, pdf reader, ereader 3-cad, freecad, solvespace, dolphin, firefox, manual 4-chromium, dolphin, pdf reader, manual I use different browsers to do different things, different home tabs... Unique Default Browser on Each Workspace It would be nice if I could highlight a word or phrase & search on the browser I'm using on the workspace, instead of the system default browser Bonus points for different default folder for dolphin instances on a specific workspace, I actually use the "Places"sidebar in this way Activities seemed to add an extra layer of complication to navigate, your mileage may vary |

Your are making your life unnecessarily complicated, use activities instead.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Thanks for the reply
Activities doesn't do what I need, it adds a layer, throws me to the default browser if I do a right click search, which derails the train of thought for a moment & probably a few minutes of doom scrolling, I generally remember & copy n paste to the browser on the workspace I'm on... Each browser has around 10 tabs open, more & I can't read the tab on my laptop I use more than one text editor for the same reason, easier to keep straight I use file folders to organize files, works fine I don't have anything on my desktop, just a couple of auto-hide panels that are customized Switchers ,notifications on one, launchers on the other Custom desktop icons, end up buried behind a window, would add complication, without any workflow improvement, just another setting to fuss around with I have had a distinct workspace for my wife to use for stuff that doesn't render well on her tablet or require a proper keyboard. haven't needed to in a couple of years I would have different users or 4 distinct virtual machines, except for the speed & complication penalty My suggestion is just a thought I've had over the years about workspaces Again thanks for the reply & your hard work... |
