For desktop pc owners who don't want to use the mouse and don't have touchpads, for those who don't want to zapping with the touchpad you could use numbers for everything in kde, from icons to favorite apps, from the taskbar to the grid desktops, window swappers etc ... here's how:
For icons, you could hold down "Ctrl" which could make the numbers appear on the desktop icons and disappear any open apps, just as if it were the TV, type the number of the icon of interest while pressing "Ctrl"; For the application bar you could press "Alt" to make the numbers appear while it is pressed and type the number of the open app; with "Super" you could make the numbers appear at least in the favorites section of the Menu and then type the number interested; for the desktop grid you could press the shortcut set, for example Ctrl + F8 and make the numbers of the various desktops appear, we just type what we are interested in and so for the window swap, and other options, such as the presentation of the windows Ctrl + F9, the presentation of the desktops, of the future interface of gnome in kde of the desktops; the concept is to press the button that brings up the numbers and type the digits giving a time interval for the numbers to more than 1 digit type 12 as we are used to doing with tv. What do you think? |

Very good idea. Other is to provide some levels of numbers, way to switch them and integrate each level/layer with krunner.
KWin will be first level, but mouse set selected item as current level/slice/layer. Meta+Esc would allow to select layer by number. When you select layer, you can open krunner and provide name of slice. Slice without other slices will active related item, when selected. So, I press Meta+Esc. I now have Windows (1'st level), Plasma (2'nth level). I select 1'st level. Now I can select window, so I have Plasma slice, Kate slice, etc. I only type Kate and press enter. Kate window's was activated. Now I have toolbar, menu, left dock and edit area slices. On each step, I can press Meta+Esc. Maybe search recursive? Maybe...

I remember KDE had such feature long ago.
I personally remember it because it annoyed me (shortcuts always popping up without me understanding why ...). But that is a thing of personal lazyness, certainly there was an option to disable that feature. Not sure if that feature survived, though ... |

that is, there was an option that if you make a shortcut like the new "Super + W" to make the various open apps appear with numbers and type the number, you select it? maybe press after "Tab" to select the desktops in Overview by numbering them, or do not press "Tab" but once you have selected the app with the number bring up the number on the desktop overview to move the apps between the various desktops ... the purpose is to use numbers to be able to do everything without using the mouse and without zapping between apps! focus on shortcuts and numbers that you can also disable, why not. However, if it's already there, that's a good thing |
