Issue: I've observed on both Manjaro and Fedora that when using KDE it does not seem to support formatting 2nd/3rd etc internal SATA/NVME drives with the necessary user permissions so you can create files/folders on the drives within the Dolphin file manager.
You have to resort to a command line to apply the correct user permissions, which is a pretty big failure from a GUI perspective. For comparison the gnome disk utility applies the correct permissions within it's GUI. Solution: Please update the KDE partition manager so it can apply the necessary permissions in the GUI drives outside the root linux file system. A secondary issue: KDE does not support auto mounting internal SATA/NVME drives, this is extremely un-user friendly vs the major win/mac os. I can understand there are some in linux land who might want extra security but for normal users this is a major annoyance that you must mount the drives every single time after already logging in. Solution: Add secondary internal SATA/NVME drives to the existing USB auto mount feature so at least users can manually enable it. Thanks for reading. |

I had different issues but in the end, yes, I also don't trust KDE Partition Manager too much (usually hurts when I do) and I don't think anyone does... so I use Gnome Disks only.
Take a good look, children. It will prepare you for your adult lives in our nightmarish corporate system.
