Currently clipboard have some security problems. I will propose some solution to handle this:
1. Inform user to delete items after some times It do not make clipboard more secure, but will help with data steal. Add special daemon and API, where program not only request to add text/other content to clipboard, but also set flags (like secure), retrieve token of item and (by using returned token) can set timeout. After this timeout, notification telling some items in clipboard need to be removed appear. User can delete this item. Other solution is to show confirmation to remove private data, after given time by program. 2. Secure paste Because we have Wayland, we can make pasting like D&D mechanism. User will copy by special keyboard shortcut and also using special shortcut, will paste protected item. Programs cannot read items in this special clipboard content if user do not paste it to it's window. User can configure to automatically remove secured item since some time or remove after secure paste operation.
