While I understand why there are .directory files, I'll admit, for something I want to do, it's a little bit in the way. I want to make a folder into a rclone mounted Google Drive folder, with the Drive logo for it's icon, however, I haven't seen a good way to do that yet. rclone either mounts over the .directory, or won't mount at all. Which gave me the idea, would it be possible to make a feature of some sort of master .directory file? And in that file, have a "target='/home/gdrive'" and possibly list options that would normally be inside the gdrive .directory file, under the target? I'll admit, I don't have any experience programming for linux or KDE, and I also don't know if a feature has already been implemented.

Why can't you simply place that ".directory" file _inside_ that rclone folder?

I've attempted it. Here's all I've tried: 1) attempt to mount while it has a '.directory' file. Cannot mount, folder needs to be empty. 2) Use rclone's --allow-empty option. With this, it temporarily overrides the content of the folder. I cannot access the .directory file while rclone is running, and the same is true for the folder. It changes from an icon folder to a normal folder. 3) Upload .directory to the cloud service in question. I haven't seen any change. It does register as a hidden folder, and as such I can hide it it control-h, but the icon itself does not change. I'm unaware if there is anything else I can do |

OK, so you actually want a change so that ".directory" entries are also evaluated in folders on (some) mounted volumes. |
