I think, tutor mode could be achieved by use Xephyr (or something similar) and set some environment variables (like HOME, XDG_DATA_DIRS, XDG_CACHE_DIRS, etc.).
In this mode, we will start special application, which shown animations how to perform task. Also, system applications should been integrated and communicate with tutor daemon. Integrated app will start tutor (and communicate with daemon) mode, when some env variable is set. Also plasma will display message, that desktop will tracks, what you do. Daemon must be also integrated with package manager, to read which version of packages we had installed. Each integrated application will send message to daemon, when user perform action and daemon resend action in accepted or not + daemon shown message, when action is bad. Suggested animations: 1. How to navigate through mouse (kwin and plasma integration needed) - only basics 2. How to navigate through keyboard (kwin and plasma integration needed) - only basics 3. D&D 4. Copying/moving/removing files (Konsole and dolphin integration needed) 5. Installing software into home using Discover and flatpak (discover integration needed) 6. Changing an default application for some mimetype
