I use ASUS laptop with AMD Ryzen CPU, it is ASUS TUF Gaming FX series with AMD Ryzen 7 3750H

I use medium CPU mode in KDE Power Manager widget, it is official battery widget from KDE.

But in the mode CPU turbo does not switched off and ASUS laptop sounds like an airplane, no doubt that the laptop use turbo mode because in Windows where I can control the turbo mode I have the same laptop fan behavior. Also when I switch off CPU turbo in Kubuntu the laptop stop the noise.
I use these commands to control CPU turbo mode.
Code: Select all
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/boost # check
echo "0" | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/boost # off turbo
echo "1" | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/boost # on turbo

I suggest to use CPU turbo mode for high performance CPU mode only. So the widget has to has the CPU turbo mode on state only for high CPU performance mode.
Because most people do not want turbo for medium CPU mode but they need some performance that low CPU mode can not give them.

As you understand it is strange to have turbo on state for CPU medium mode where we need medium performance only because turbo up CPU frequency higher than medium state.

Optionally it would be great to have a "Enable turbo mode" tick in the widget.
