I'd appreciate a possibility in Kopete to

• export and
• import and merge

chat message histories from older or the same Kopete versions. The export file format should be well-formed and backward-compatible, for instance a compressed XML file with stable tags.

The merging should have some heuristics for keeping the time-line on conflicting days.

Not known users in the current Kopete client can be announced to the user as not imported.

Double import should be prevented in comparing the messages itself before importing.

This could be useful to transfer exported message histories by a data storage or mail from different computers to one place, for instance from work to the home computer.

This is some kind of "sub-issue" of my wish report at the
KDE bug tracker issue 163771. As I have seen, import from different clients, as Pidgin, is planned.
