Notice the “Enter Filter Here...” text in this mockup of the Dolphin filter bar:
This is to make it more obvious to users that this is a filter bar. If Dolphin developers decide to go with my Filter and Search buttons idea, when in search mode this would be changed to “Enter Search Here...”. This is part of my series of Dolphin ideas

Does the KDE interface guidelines specify whether labeling should be in a label or in the widget itself? I like this more, its what Windows is moving towards as well, but it needs to be consistent with other KDE apps.
Proudly dual-booting openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.3 and Windows Vista on a Toshiba A205-S4577 since July 2007.

The search bar in Dolphin in KDE 4.3 has a label just like this (although I did not see it until months after I made this mockup).

Ah. Then this idea is good for consistency with search in 4.3.
