Hi
IIRC right now when you go to a place there is no true filtering at the treeview, i mean, it's always showing the full tree, keeping opened the nodes required to reach the destination folder. Once you select a place it would be more interesting to have a way to link the treeview with the choice that you have done. The goal is to have 2 modes: - No link established. Basically that's the way it works now. - Linked mode. Once you select a place the treeview works exactly the way konqueror 3.x does (with the left bar of folders), that is, you only see a subtree using the place folder as tree-root. If navigating (going up in the main view) you get out of this subtree then main view and treeview should be outdated, so no update in tree's selection must be done. For me this is something fundamental. In fact i have not switched yet to 4.x (i've tested some times using a virtual machine) because of this. I use this feature in konqueror 3.x a lot, cause i think it's faaar faster than any other way i've found to navigate. Simply define your preferred places and use them, that's it. Probably the easiest way to integrate this feature should be having a button/checkbox in the treeview itself. Having to go to options for changing this might bother people, and sometimes it would be interesting to have a fast way to switch between both modes, maybe if you need to copy some files from one place to another folder that is outside of your common set of places. Regards

Well, a year ago i did on java an "extended filechooser", including this permanent link between current place and treeview. Maybe this way you know what i'm talking about.
Take a look: http://www.imagegratis.com/hosting/uplo ... 55b313.png http://www.imagegratis.com/hosting/uplo ... 1646e3.png Now you can see how small is the tree, very useful. On the opposite the current tree is veery big Regards
