Currently, Kontact doesn't have it's own icon in the tray.
So you get a bunch of stuff (kmail, akregator, korganiser) that invades your tray. I think it would be nice for kontact to "unify" all those tray icon into a single one. This would help to unclutter the tray and would be more consistent since it's goal is to unify those apps anyway, right? This tray icon might change according to context (new mail, new rss messages, new event, ...) The use of the new kde notifications would also be a great plus, though i guess (at least i hope ) this is already being worked on. Obviously, this behaviour should be user-configurable in the settings to please everybody Oh, and let me write "tray" once more, just for the record

I believe my first post was deleted automatically, so I try to repost what I said previously (my apologizes it it comes finally). It was about Kontact icon (and Kmail) but not about this bug.
So, I was asking if Kmail/Kontact icon could stay in the taskbar when we close these window (like Akregator or Amarok) because we need sometimes to keep our mail open and it takes some size on the taskbar. We can, that's true, move the Kmail window to another Desktop spaces but it is not easy to find it again if we received a mail (especially if we have a lot of desktop). Sorry for the english (and mistakes), it is not my primary language. florentgiordano EDIT : Maybe already told in the previous link..... but I am not sure of that

@florentg:
The reason you didn't saw your idea is because it was still stuck in the moderation queue, and obviously someone was faster. |

Thanks for the link. Such an old feature request though Let's hope this will highlight the request to the kontact develeppoers' eyes.

I think the obvious place to do this kind of notiffication management is actually the akonaditray app. But this means complete integration of kdepim with akonadi which will take some time.
