I'm a heavy mobile-internet user. I own an UMTS USB dongle, but I have no way (except umtsmon) to know the signal strength.
Idea n° 1) a plasmoid which shows the current GSM operator I'm connected to, the protocol (GPRS or UMTS) and a signal strenght bar Idea n° 2) auto-add plasmoid to desktop/panel on device insertion. Maybe, the first time, ask user if it wants to keep the auto-add function or to disable it. |

Part of it could be (or is it already? I don't own an UMTS aware device) implemented in the NetworkManager plasmoid, since Network Manager itself has support for those kind of connections.
