With all of the wide screen monitors out there, sometimes moving the panel to the side of the screen seems like a great idea. Some plasmoids, like the system tray and desktop pager, have no problems reorienting themselves. Others, like the digital clock, do not. The task manager is especially troublesome. You can see the program icon,and if you make the panel wider, a couple of letters.

If the code was in a fairly general location, I can see other applications such as koffice benefiting from this.

With all of the many configuration options in KDE, this is one I am surprised I haven't seen yet.
