Hi,
I read the following blog http://jarlesdraw-log.blogspot.com/2009 ... de-42.html and started using this idea of moving flash files to a new folder. The idea I have is that instead of manually renaming the flash files in the new folder to add .flv why can't you have a trigger on the specified folder that says when a new file gets dropped in the folder automatically run the following script. Then you write a script that adds .flv to any file that gets dropped in that folder. I guess you could do some pretty fancy workflow stuff like MS Biztalk in a way eventually. Like if a PDF gets dropped in the approved folder send a mail to your best friend or whatever. Or if an Microsoft Word file gets dropped in your Documents folder convert it to ODF. It would work like triggers on a database or rules in an email client. It could be pretty useful I think. Regards, Jeandré |

I guess http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Ma ... ent=100348 could be expanded to provide that sort of functionality.

If the OP is satisfied with the solution given above, I'll mark this idea as IMPLEMENTED.

I don't think the plasmoid can do it as of now though. It is only capable of moving files automatically (or semi-automatically really, since it's necessary to drag the files to the plasmoid). It would need to be extended quite a bit to do what was originally asked, but it's a starting-point.

Also it would be nice if this wasn't just a plasmoid but a feature in Dolphin/Konqueror.
I am not sure if this would be the best but you might have a predefined shell script in the folder like .folder.sh or something and whenever a file gets dumped in the folder it will call "sh .folder.sh $FILENAME" Not too sure about security issues or if there might be a better way. But I am sure you could end up building a pretty powerful work flow system with flexibility like that. |

That sounds WAY TOO DANGEROUS to me. Sorry for "screaming" but to me, that sounds like a sure way of "inviting" malicious scripts. Sorry, but it's implemented that way I would (if I had the power to do so) have to veto it. Yes, it could be used to build up a powerful work-flow system but the drawbacks are too numerous.
