System Settings > Window Behaviour > Window Behaviour (first choice in the list on the left) > Window Actions (tab)

or

Right click on window border > Configure Window Behaviour > Actions > Window Actions

Modifier Key + Middle button should allow maximise and restore

Honestly i don't know why its not already there, its there for mouse wheel, but something like 'Change Opacity' is much better suited to the mouse wheel because there is a range of different values opacity could take, apart from just 1 for maximise/restore, if a window is maximised it will restore, and if its restored it will maximise.

this is a similar(/related) idea if you combine a couple ideas i just had (awaiting mod approval)* and:assign-mouse-buttons-to-keyboard-shortcuts-t-39280.html

* here are the two ideas i had awaiting approval (presented here same as how i had them written in a text editor to organise ideas as a searched to make sure i wasnt duplicating):

ability to save keyboard shortcuts for windows(/applications) even after closing and reopening
-extending the idea, keyboard shortcuts for applications, if application already open, behave as a keyboard shortcut for window (bring to foreground rahter than open new / do nothing)

and;

window boarder right click opens menu
- extending the idea, besides the in window rightclick-menu options, could have extend window to screen edge, extend window to next window boarder, extend window to fit contents and any other useful window management features.
- extending the idea further, a double click on window boarders should have a function, configurable, like the title bar, to the above suggested options.

like i said. related. ;) i dont think this is quite a duplicate tho.

gets my vote up anyways. :)

good call on the opacity on mouse wheel insteada restore/minimse too. :thumbsup:

~back i go to find if my ideas have already been posted....
