It would be very nice if KDE notification system were integrated with the command line 'talk'. This way, KDE should have a pseudo-tty and notify the user every time it receives a 'talk' message. Also, it should send a message with 'talk' to the currently logged-on user every time an application displays a notification. Going further, there could be some front-end for sending messages with 'talk', and configuring what user(s) will receive the notifications sent.
With that, KDE would, for example, show the message 'This computer is going down in XX minutes', created by shutdown, and people could work at the command line while still reciving instant messages with Kopete. |
