I have always wanted the UI framework for text boxes that pertain to directories, files, and paths to support environment variable interpolation like that of the shell.

I would like this type of behavior, for example:

export MY_SANDBOX="~/Development/Sandbox"

KDE Run Dialog: ${MY_SANDBOX}/bin/my_utility would be interpreted as ~/Development/Sandbox/bin/my_utility.

This should not be hard to implement. For sanity's sake, only dereference environment variables that are well-formed with $ and both curly-brackets.
