[Plasma] KDE netbook remix plasmoid

Thu Mar 26, 2009 8:57 am
Create a netbook remix plasmoid. Ideally this would be the whole desktop and offer similar features as the ubuntu netbook remix screen. However it would be really cool if one of the menus options on the left showed the desktop plasmoid in place in the middle pane (without opening it in a new window).

Even better would be if the netbook remix plasmoid could also host other plasmoids in the middle pane, for different menu options on the side. So selecting favorites showed my favorite icons and the weather plasmoid, while system showed the system icons and cpu/memory usage.

I would be free to add any plasmoid to any menu page and size/position it. The icons could then flow around it.

Of course I am not sure if it is currently possible for plasmoids to host other plasmoids. In the mean time a netbook plasmoid with all the features of the ubuntu netbook remix would be very possible.

With this and a version of maximiser for kwin, kde would offer an immediate netbook ui, that would be configured with all of kde's plasma goodness.

Iain.
