I think that most people now use web based e-mail and web based calendar's to handle these tasks. On lower powered machine it makes sense not to waste resources on Kontact however the address book is still necessary for use with Kopete (for pictures, virtual contacts etc) so rather than keeping two address books updated then wouldn't it be best to have you web based address book and the KDE Pim version automatically synchronised.

This would be possible using an Akonadi resource, which Akonadi using applications would automatically use.

Hi behavedave
That would actually fit very well into the tasks of the proposed Synchronisation Framework. See this post. Maybe you want to add your needs as a use-case.

It appears this has been done along with calendar synchronisation.
http://www.kdedevelopers.org/node/3931 I doubt it has anything to do with this post but all the same what I wanted has happened so I'll stick a big fat resolved sticker on this! |
