Currently, when playing a video (DVD or file), the screen follows an automatic dimming rule in the power profile (System Settings > Advanced > Power Management) and dims the screen after a minute or two. The experience would be more user-friendly if KDE automatically detected video was being played and didn't automatically dim the screen.

Ideally, an option for what to do while playing video would be present, either in Power Management or in Desktop > Screen Saver. (I suppose the same issue applies with screen savers?)

I don't know if this is program specific or something that can be implemented in KDE.

(Using Kubuntu 8.10 w/ KDE 4.2.1)

Well I get a dimmed or black screen after 30 minutes of inactivity and I did everything to stop that from happening.
