Most of the time I just need my /home and /media directory to be shown in the folder panel in Dolphin, no need to see /usr or /bin, for example. Implementing an option to hide the directories I don't use frequently would make it visually clearer and less distracting, like in the Places panel: just the couple directories the user uses every day and nothing else; and also an option for showing all of them at one time and not having to manually show them one by one, in case the user needs it
