It would be nice to have the possibility to right click on an icon representing
an unmonted disk and have a menu voice to allow the device formatting.

I think the best place to add that feature is the device notifier,
as the user inserts the device, checks if the device has been detected
and finally starts searching this function.

It looks a bit restricted for me. Why only format and not other actions? (for example, getting some extra information)
I think this should be done in a more generic way, that is, allow the notifier to have custom right-button-menu actions, so you can add all that you want. What if you use an external/different disk management utility? Add an entry for it with the text and/or icon that you prefer in this customizable context menu, that's it

I agree with Manometti,
there should be a generic way to add scripts,
also a check disk tool should stay in this menu.

Further,
I have seen that my post is very similar to this one

disc-formatter-tool-t-38981.html

the main difference is that I'd like to have these
functions in Device notifier and not in a separate tool
