[Konqueror/Kget]Make downloads to start instantly (reduce confirmation dialogs)
Mon Mar 30, 2009 6:30 am
OK right now wit kget/konqueror integration to download a file I have to
1) click a downlad link 2) click in a dialog with Open / Save as/ Cancel 3) click in kget path dialog with OK/Cancel even if I want to use default downloads folder... Would be nice to reduce this confirmation dialogs to just one ... or even better to just start the download without any confirmation dialog. Of course this can be just an option turnable on/off in konqueror/kget options configuration.

I've noticed that the reason for this is that it starts whatever's at the top of the list. BUT it always puts new items at the bottom. If you drag them to the top, it starts them even.

It should be then by default (with KGet) that download is confirmed and from settings possibility to set it start without confirmation.
People use today 3G modems with data limits and it is important that by default the web page does not start downloading something as already some pages does that and only stop for that is confirmation. |

For 1) and 2) there is nothing KGet can do about it.
In the case of 3) you already can have no dialogs if you want to. It might look a little complicated though: KGet decides to ask you if it is not sure where to put a download. What you can do now is to go to "Settings/Configure KGet/Groups". Now make sure that the first option ("Use default folders [...]") is unchecked and that the second option ("Ask for destination [...]") is checked. Next select a download group and click "Configure". Make sure that a default folder is selected. Then enter "*" for the regular expression. From then on any file (since "*" matches everything) will be downloaded to that directory without asking you.
