Hi guys,

have you read this interesting post in Alediaferia's blog? ==>
http://alediaferia.wordpress.com/2009/0 ... ching-kde/

(If you haven't, I suggest you to read it now :) )

Well, in that post, alediaferia wrote that he'd like teach KDE
programming, and his idea is very interesting and beautiful because I
think that the best way to learn how to build a KDE application is
write it together with a teacher who teachs you where you're right and
where not, who explain you some tricks and so on.

My idea is to open a e-learning site (for example learn.kde.org) and
install there a e-learning CMS, call the place "KDE University" and
teach people how to program with KDE, with courses, lessons, exercises
and so on. Then, I'm really interested to subscribe me at
Alediaferia's course. :)

I can admin the e-learning CMS, I've some experience with CMS and I
know HTML, CSS, PHP and SQL.

And you, what's your idea?

P.S. Maybe my English is not very good, I hope my mail is understandable

Added tag. Are you aware there is a Klassroom subforum where kourses are held with intention that KDE users interested in developing KDE can be a part of it.
But it might be a good idea to take that to a next level and have everything in one place.
But still most of your idea is in techbase and under klassroom. But the it could add to transperancy if everything would be on one place sort of KDE University as you put it.
I wonder what mentors think.

Kourses worked great because while there is still a connection between student and mentors, the "delayed" nature of the forums helps if time gets in the way. Also, the presence of the forum with an already estabilished infrastructure and staff helps with regards to maintainability issues.

The recent e-learning platforms give you the possibility to talk with teachers and other students.

You're right if you say the forum give you the possibility to teach in the same place where staff and normal users are discussing.

But I think that to use a forum for teaching is a way. Using a specific platform for teaching, born on purpose for teaching, is a better way than a simple forum. :)
