I have seen some video players that were able to play back video at other than 1x speed (eg 1.5,2 or even 0.5 time speed) and still keep the audio sounding correct. This allow you to watch a video in 1/2 the time and still being able to understand what was said.

This would allow you to watch a presentation at a speed that was appropriot for you. If you understood the subject you could watch the video faster, if you where having trouble understanding the subject you could watch it more slowly to give yourself more time to absorbe the context.

Also good to watch your favourate movie in 1/2 the time for a bit of fun :shade:

You can do that with MPlayer (or SMPlayer which is its Qt interface) with the bracket keys ( [ and ] ).

Really useful for when you're trying to understand something in a foreign language and the speaker is talking way too fast.

This is a feature that realy should be availbale in phonon and just exposed through dragon player. that way any player using phonon would be able to playback at 1.5x ,2x or .5x etc and still have the audio understandable.

I think this feature is under rated as it allows for clearer understanding of a video tutorial or allows you to skim through a video tutorial and still hear the explaination properly.
