One of my favorite things about *NX is the touch utility. Unlike Windows its possible to change the timestamps for a file to any given date or the current date.
As far as I know, there is no existing GUI for this utility so the user has to figure out the correct command for BASH. I would like it if some sort of Modify Timestamp command was available in KDE, perhaps as a context menu option when right-clicking a file or as an additional button in the Properties window. This new command would allow the user to either choose the current date/time, type in a date/time or using the calendar control like editing an event in Korganizer. They would be able to modify the access time, modified time, and creation time (if supported by the current filesystem). Perhaps more power could be given, such as "add/subtract x hours from the current timestamp" that could be used if the user has switched timezones for example. I would be happy to create a mockup PNG if desired.

This sounds like something that should be relatively easy to implement using service-menues.

Fair enough, but I've never made a servicemenu myself, and I have no idea how to use the calendar control or any kind of dialog besides kdialog; I really hate C/C++. Can I, or should I, request that one be made?

Well, I'm no expert in making servicemenues either. I know the basics but that's about it. But I'm thinking that Python plus the kde-bindings and combining that with a servicemenu would suffice here. Unfortunately, my programming skills are not good enough for something to published anywhere (my stuff tends to take too much for granted...that is, they will run fine on my system but no one elses...) And I'd say this thread is a request for one
