I have configured my desktop to have several picture frames stacked on top of each other. Unfortunately there are no settings to specify which order the widgets are stacked.
I propose a setting to allow users to decide the stack order of their widgets. I've made a mockup as seen at KDE-Look here. The widgets should include options to: - Send widgets to the back - Bring widgets to the front - Send widgets back one layer - Bring widgets forward on layer Let me know what you guys think! |

Did you know that you can change the z-order of the widgets by clicking on them? (Or their handle that appears on hover; for some widgets, such as Folderview, the first method doesn't work). Of course, this requires you to unlock your widgets first.

It would be way cooler if z-index would be changed without unlocking your widgets. * Primoz has to check this option right now!

Yes I know, but when I move my mouse away from the particular widget, then it reverts to something that I do not want. |

I just thought that it'd be good to make a setting to stack pictures (and also adjust their size, maybe?) according to the rating that user gave to the picture files. The rating is stored somewhere in Nepomuk (or Akonadi or Strigi? not sure, sorry) database. That would reflect users preferences. Also it'd be interesting if there'd be some special plasmoid called PictureStack, for example, that would automagically stack and rotate and resize images from list/folder (again, maybe according to user ratings).

@fini_fly:
Try to click on the handle (that appears on hover) instead of the widget. It works for me in trunk. @Kraplax: A PictureStack widget would be cool (I'm thinking of something like Picasa's collage). As for the main idea, I don't think it's worth the added complexity. Clicking on the widget/handle to change z-order is enough for my needs.
