I also posted this on KDE-Look. But I was reminded by another Okular idea.
I had to read a whole book in pdf as there was no other option, but I had real troubles with it. The main was that it just didn't looked and felt as a "real" book. I would like to see a mode in Okular where your pdf document would behave like a real book. It would have a book cover it would be browsed in same manner as you turn pages in book. And a book mark would be visibly marked just like in real book. Something like this: (Yes that's an actual photo of a book )

Okular can't give a book a cover unless there is one already in the file. How, specifically, do you think the browsing should be done? I am not clear on what you mean.

I agree, but then again just as Amarok gets Album covers from net. Okular could get book covers from things like Amazon... Anyway; about browsing. It would be done the same way as you read the book. You would "flip" the page over. Imagine there's a visual pointer on the bottom outside edge of page that lets you know that you can turn to another page. I would make a mock-up, but nor my krita nor kolourpaint aren't working (probably something with qt and KDE4.2.2)...

The problem I see with it is that:
1. There is no way to distinguish a cover 2. A lot of people (like me) don't have gigantic screens to painlessly read text from a page while it's displayed in full. Other than that, I do not see much difference from this and your KDE-Look mockup except that you click arrows instead of page corners...

Agreed. It's not a big difference. from two page settings, especially when set in such manner that scrolling is disabled. But when I actually tried that I noticed that my "book" which came with cover et al. wasn't behaving as a book and pages were not ther where you'd expect them to be. And also think forward in future when we'll all use multituch screens it would be cool if your pdf reader would behave as a real book... I know it's far fetched. But still it might be cool.
