Kate is a great software, highly configurable and light enough to be used as a general purpose editor. But sometimes I miss some tools that I'm used to employ with Nedit.

For example "open highlighted" menu. If some text is highlighted a menu item allow opening of corresponding file. Works only if highlighted text is a filename of course. Very useful when dealing with config files referring each other for example.
