If your a student you probably heard of JSTOR. It's one of the biggest database of
scanned scientific works form every field of science. It would be really cool if Okular would have a provider integrated in it, so you would be able to easily search and look at the database from your PDF reader. Only problem is that JSTOR is subscription-only (you don't need to pay it's just a load of paperwork involved). But as a member/student of university you're able to log-in under it's account. So KDE could get their account for the Kdeedu part of KDE. That would really help students and also bring KDE closer to students, researchers and others alike.

I'm not sure it fits in the normal Okular tasks.

I think Tellico would be better suited for this task. It already has a system to manage collections, and a system to search various online databases. See PDF (or general document) collection and indexing and Web browser integration.
I would also be very surprised if KDE could get one account and then distribute it to everyone on the planet (which I suspect they would pretty much have to for an open-source project). You would probably need your own account anyway.

Oh I didn't know about Tellico. It really is a better application for this "job". I as a mod should know better and research before I post.
