I have an idea. The icon for burn. (idea based on http://www.toniox.org/?p=53#comment-310 )
The current icon is quite traditional

but i think having on icon something related to laser welding is better


PS By the way, i couldn't search for duplicates of the idea. Searching for "k3b" gave this:
"One or more of your search terms were shorter than the minimum length. The minimum search term length is 4 characters."

Due to the underlying infrastructure in our search system, there is no way to search for anything smaller than 4 letters. Not sure why the image tag didn't work though.

I find it strange that so many forum software don't allow searching for less than 4 characters when the terms one is most likely to search for: "XP", "WMP", "KDE", "K3B", "DVD" (!), are less than 4 characters, but that's another issue...

While I think the current icon is fine, since users are burning to CD/DVD media, I like the idea too.

I asked my friend who is a designer to make an icon according to the idea. This is what he gave me:
