We have panels to contain our plasmoids. But it have some disadvantages:
1), It's stuck to the edges of screen. Some times it is the advantage but some time it's the disadvantage. Say I want to "manage some plasmoids into a group". 2), It only have one layer(AFAIK), i.e., all the plasmoids in a panel is arranged in one line. How could I want display a comic above a folderviwer? So, here is my idea. A moidGrid that has the function of QGridLayout. It can arrange the plasmoids' position and size when resizing or moving. One can place plasmoids in it and assign the grid it occupy. If my explanation is not enough, I can make a mockup

Yes, rather similar. But not exactly the same. What I want is a plasmoid that have grids to hold other plasmoids. In this aspect, it is a successor of panel.(With "stick to screen edge" option on, it will became a panel

This idea provides a more general way for applying Layouts using a container-Plasmoid which can also have additional features like scrollbars and different layouts. (grid, horicontal, vertical, radial)
So the gridmoid would just be a specialization. |
