[Kate] New feature suggestion #1 to increase ease and speed of use in Find/Replace
I do a massive amount of searching and/or replacing in Kate. Many hours per day which can get real tiresome--which leads to finger, hand, wrist and armpit pain which I would like to reduce as much as possible. Example of how I search: When I proofread an HTML page I have the file open in Kate and switch back and forth to correct errors that I locate while reading the HTML file. Since I have to use the mouse to highlight the keywords in the HTML file that I want the to search for in Kate, I normally continue to use the mouse to copy the keyword, switch windows, open find/replace dialog box, paste in the keyword and activate the search or repeat the search. (Yes I do use my left hand to enter some commands--when that is easier or faster and my hand doesn't hurt too bad.) Using paste to insert the keyword(s) in the search box is what I think could be "dramatically" improved through simple changes in the Search/Replace dialog window. I use the right mouse button to activate the pop-up dialog box. This requires two mouse clicks to use and close attention to what you are doing so that you don't click the wrong line and cut or copy instead of paste. If nothing is highlighted in Kate you get to start all over (two more clicks), if something is highlighted then you just put that in the clipboard and you have to go back to the original HTML file and start over--which really slows you down. Here are two possible cures for this problem: 1 - Automatically insert the clipboard contents in the "Text to find:" box when the Search/Replace dialog is first opened and leave it highlighted so that if that is not what you want--all you have to do is start typing to make it go away. 2 - Add a paste BUTTON to the Search/Replace dialog box that inserts the contents of the clipboard into the "Text to find:" box. I don't consider this two different topics since (to me) the issue here is whether to fix the "issue" not how it is fixed. Either fix is fine with me. I hope you will consider implementing one of these.... TIA Keith

1. What happens when you have an extensive amount of text in your clipboard. I would not like my clipboard data to appear in the replace box, but that's just my own opinion.
2. What's wrong with Ctrl+V ? |

+1. Even better would be allow that if there is some text selected in kate, insert that text into the search field (just as Eclipse behaviour), only if there is no selected text, use the clipboard |

I think a better solution is that if you have the find bar open in a document, then switch to different document, and you hit the find button and there is no text selected in the current document, it automatically grabs the search contents of the previous document you opened. That would avoid the need to paste entirely.
