for the groups view for displaying in dolphins, file types for which there is one of that file, are just lumped in 'other' to save vertical space. Also to group files by mimetype and not file type (images and not png/jpg/gif)

like:
-------------
folder:
blaa

text:
123.txt readme stuff.nfo

image:
anim.gif photo001.jpg photo002.jpeg logo.png

other:
download.torrent music.ogg flash.swf
-------------

instead of:
-------------
folder:
blaa

text:
123.txt readme stuff.nfo

gif:
anim.gif

jpg:
photo001.jpg

jpeg:
photo002.jpeg

png:
logo.png

torrent:
download.torrent

ogg:
music.ogg

flash:
flash.swf
-------------

Actually I would suggest an option to "merge groups". For example I find that mixing jpegs and gifs and pngs into a single group of "images" is very logical, but I might want to keep svgs separate. Another example is for text files, where .log, .tex, .txt and .ly files are all text files, they are all extremely different, .log for log files, .tex for my ongoing articles and essays, .txt for absolutely anything at all and .ly for music!
