Do you ever wonder where you newly installed app is? I can never find anything in the menu and just open a console and start tabbing and hope I find my app (or use krunner)
Anyway the boys from redmond solved this problem many moons ago by highlighting the new apps (and their parent/grandparent directories) many moons ago. I know kickoff keeps track off newly installed apps but I still have no clue where they are in the menu substructure...

You want new applications and their categories to be highlighted in the application launcher (Kickoff/classic menu etc.)? How is this related to breadcrumb?

Oh, I see. [OT] In Sweden Hansel is called Hans, so I for one should know that story. I thought you meant a breadcrumb bar like in Dolphin first, but that didn't make much sense. Thanks for the clarification.

Do you mean something like this: *You install Gimp (just an example) *Kickoff renders the Graphics heading differently, say in another color, to make the user aware that's where Gimp is? If so, I'm in favor! It's rather annoying that the "Recently installed" menu doesn't indicate where it is in the structure. That being said, 1. Is the "Recently installed" a part of upstream? I'm honestly not sure if it's a suse-patch (in my case) or not. 2. If it's upstream, does anyone know if there's a way to edit how it behaves? I.e. changing how long programs are listed in the "recently installed" menu or whether it can be disabled?

Yes, the way(dare I say it) xp, vista and windows 7 do
It is not a suse only patch, mandriva has it too (though to be honest I dont use kickoff anymore, back to the old plain menu) and it should be possible to specify for how long the coloring is activated (certain time period or after a number of clicks on app) |

As an option this is fine, but it is always one of the first thing I turn off when I use a new windows computer so please make it something people can disable (or have it disabled by default). I personally know when I installed new software, there is no need to tell me.

either that or having an actual breadcrumb displayed somewhere if you search in kickoff for the new application. however +1 for that
