Seeing this thread, I remembered a feature I really liked in an old Tetris game: the ability to share the playfield between two players.
Instead of just one block, there will be two blocks falling down, and each player controls one block. The width of the playfield is slightly larger to avoid crowding. To win, you have to cooperate with your partner. The blocks always appear at the same place, so if you're player 1, you know that the block to the left is yours (but you're free to move it to the right if you want). In the game I owned, the block sequence was the same for both players. I don't know what would be best - do you think they should have the same block sequence or should the sequences be independent of each other?

The wii version has this as well. It is a lot of fun. +1
