[Dolphin] Opening archives

Fri May 01, 2009 1:53 pm
Its not very nice looking, or useful if all archives in file manager are opening in another window, even in another application. Its XXI century :)
Maybe it is posible to integrate Ark with Dolphin as Kpart or something

Settings -> Configure Dolphin -> General -- Check "Browse through archives".

Is this what you are proposing?

Hmm, yes, i didnt know this option.

Unfortunately, this works only for tar.gz on my system, all other archives are opened in Ark.

Voting +1 for letting Dolphin be able to browse all kinds of archives (not only tar).

Simply use Konqueror... It's more modular. You can't even open PDF in Dolphin.

konqueror4.x lacks the media:/ option from kde3.5 and the sidebar making navigating drives quite hard :( supposedly this something like is planned for 4.3 but that is still 6 months away :(
