I have, for example, message with 30 photos from holidays, which somebody sent to me, and i want to browse thru them, but not save to disk.
Currently i can view image without saving it in email, but... individualy. Im clicking on one in Kmail, Gwenview opens, but next/prev buttons dont work. I think that, when one of many attachments is clicked in Kmail to preview it, Kmail should copy not only this one to temporary directory for preview, but all attachments, so in my situation prev/next buttons in Gwenview would work, or even slideshow. |

RE: [KMail] When previewing attachment, make temporary directory for all files

That's quite a specific use case, i.e. all attachments being of the same type and relatively small.
You could just use "Save all attachments" and choose the default temporary location (which is where they would end up when saving for viewing). Has the advantage that you can copy/move them with a file manager as well, not just the viewer program. Cheers, _

So Kmail should at least check if attachments are media types and when copy all of them to temporary folder.
If i get email with many photo attachments and want to check them if they are worth saving to disk, now i must do at least two clicks for EACH photo. Your solution takes less, but still too much: 3 clicks to save them all, one click to make temporary folder, then one click to open dolphin, some clicks to navigate to temporary folder and open first photo. If this what im proposing would be implemented, quick checking what photos i recived by mail would be finally really quich, one click to open first and second to run slideshow. |
