In windows i used to run a program to off my laptop's lcd display but i didn't find any to off it in kde. so adding a check box which will allow the user to off the display if added would be great...
see mockups:

Before:

After implementing:

And To turn on the screen, simply hitting any key on keyboard or moving mouse should work...
Thanks in Advance..

You can create an icon on the desktop or a menu item with the command 'xset dpms force off'

but a check mark in that plasma widget would be great and easy...and will be available by default...

Shouldn't this be rather a XRandR thing? ...that being said, I *do* miss a RandR tool in KDE4 to turn on/off displays, their positions, change resolutions, rotation, or at least a button for 'xrandr --auto'.

Well, yes, so it is. My bad :

But after checking it out a) it's still just a direct port from KDE3 (like e.g. KTeaTime is) and is not very KDE4-like b) AFAIK it still supports neither 'xrandr --auto' nor tuning a display on/off.
