Hello.
I have 2 ideas for making Okular more handy. 1. Remember search preferences (currently two, ignore case / search from current page). 2. Settable timeout to type the search pattern or an option to start searching after hitting Enter. I'm on "not so fast" machine and when I make a typo (occasionally) Okular starts eating up resuources so dialog to stop the search appears with (notable) delay. It doesn't seem to be present in my current stable (archlinux kdemod package) Okular v0.8.2, KDE 4.2.2. No similar entries in kde bugzilla (bugs.kde.org). |

I definitely agree with this one. Things start to lag especially with really long documents.

Hi,
Should be easily doable, I'll look into it next days. (Also, note to self: history combo box.)
Hm, a bit tricky. Currently the timeout is (well, was) set to 500ms, just raised to 700ms; we'll see how it is felt by users with the upcoming KDE 4.3 betas. About the search dialog: that dialog is no more present in KDE 4.3, replaced by a small animated widget, to provide feedback that the search is going on but without popping up some (intrusive?) dialog. Hm, that also means there's no way to stop one. All the system is (almost) there, just need again some button and/or shortcut, so just need to friendly poke some usability dude(tte).

Hi again,
Done.
Instead of adding an option for the timeout delay (which, as I wrote earlier, has been raised to 700ms), I added a way to cancel the current search, by simply pressing the Esc key. So, if typed slowly and a search started, you can press Esc to stop it. Forgot to say: both of the changes above were done after the KDE 4.3beta1 preparation, so they will be in any release after beta1.

@pinotree: Does that make this idea "Implemented" in KDE Trunk? If so, you can use the "Moderation Options" drop down at the bottom of the page to mark the Idea as Done if you wish.
