[kmines] terrain option

Sun May 10, 2009 8:00 pm
I think it would be cool if kmines had an option to turn on different sorts of terrain that would be randomly incorporated into the level. You should probably have the option of turning different type of terrain on or off. The terrain would be randomly generated. The terrain would have to be visible to the player since it radically changes the gameplay. A few possible examples:

  • rocks: special square, a mine cannot be here. The random generator should place these randomly relative to each other
  • sand: special square, mines are visible from the start. This should form 1-3 contiguous regions.
  • water: special square, your detector detects mines up to two squares away. This should form 1-3 contiguous regions.
  • slope: special square, you can only detect mines that are lower on the slope. This should form 1-3 contiguous regions.
  • wall: between two squares, you cannot detect mines on the other side. There should be 1-3 continuous walls.
  • electric fence: between two squares, each 1-unit line is detected as a mine by touching square. There should be 1-3 continuous electric fences.

Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.
