[Marble] Earth elevation map

Thu May 14, 2009 7:18 pm
Currently there is a lunar elevation map, but no similar map for Earth. I think this sort of map is very useful, far more useful for the Earth than for the moon.

Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.

The earth's atlas map is such an elevation map.

In case you dislike the colors there's a geeky way to change them:
Look for seacolors.leg and landcolors.leg and edit them with a text editor.

/usr/local/share/apps/marble/data/seacolors.leg
/usr/local/share/apps/marble/data/landcolors.leg

And before you ask: Adding a GUI for this kind of thing is out of the scope of Marble development. It wouldn't match our target user.

Best Regards,
Torsten
