I think place shortcuts box should contains search field. It can be on top of it. Why we should uses them? It can help to provide fastest way to file moving/dragging. Actually we can drag icon there and select copy/move it. More dynamical places could be very helpful.

User may to click on search field and input projects. It will starts Nepomuk search for projects, but filter result to folders. We can now click main places to go into main places view. We can also select places or drag files on them.

Plasma applet to search places can be great too.
