A useful feature for complex documents is to have groups of styles “linked with” a “master style”. This way, if you need several paragraph styles similar in some aspect (like font) but different on others (like indents or numbering) you can create those styles from the master style changing whatever you need on each of them. Later, if you need to change something that is common to all those styles (for example the font) you need to do that only once in the master style and then all the linked styles will change automatically.
This can be configured on the “General” tab of the style definition menu.
