I would like kontact to display on the same page, two distinct columns, my address book entries and my kalarm/calendar entries, for interconnection purposes:
- by clicking on an addressbook entry, all scheduled meetings and alarms related (established by pattern matching) to that entry would be displayed. - by clicking on special _text_ in the calendar or kalarm entry, relevant (i.e. pattern matching) addressbook entries would be displayed ---p

This could be establish by tagging
Lets say you have Tom Thomas, the ABCD manager and you have meeting at ABCD office. Its oblivious, that they are related. And the problem, is that it is impossible?? and worthless to create all name-name, name-company and other 100 patterns. If the both would ABCD tag, well, its a piece of cake to match them Another problem, is how to tag everything. If you had to add 10+tags for each item, well you would have any time to work. http://forum.kde.org/-discountable-rati ... 47923.html Idea is a little bit drafty, I home I clean up it some day |

Well, tagging is not immediate, it requires an effort by the user. As i take my note 'meeting with Tom on monday' with kalarm, or as kalarm pops up that reminder, i would like Tom's entry from my addressbook to be displayed. On the other hand, looking at Tom' entry in my addressbook, i would like to find all my kalarm notes in which Tom has been involved. Parsing kalarm notes should not be very cpu-intesive, since they usually are small plain texts. Scanning addressbook should be selective: only name, surname, company for each entry. Anyway, if that were a cpu-intensive work, it could be triggered upon users's request. ---p

I think it is possible for formulate a Nepomuk query for things like that.
So it is basically just a matter of time until this becomes available, i.e. PIM apps really using Akonadi and Akonadi/Nepumuk integration being finished. Cheers, _
