I talked to a friend of mine who was really upset about how we implemented the widgets in the desktop and would prefer to dock his widget if needed to a frame on the desktop
That could be possible with the already made plasmoid handling by adding a kind of layer that can be cjhanged by the user if wanted by the same way the user also can move around the plasmoids on the panels I made a small sketch for this:

This way we could add also in the config bar that shows up on the sites of the plasmoid so that the useer can decide if he wants them all over the place or fit to this table .

That way we would have the ability to freely move the widgets around like befor and can fix them to the desktop like befor.

I'll approve this thread for now, but please let us know how it is functionally different from [Plasma] Make aligning plasmoids easier with alignment cues.

#1 Its userdefined wether or not he wants to allignt the plasmoids
#2 I purpose a more plasma panel like approach that is already implemented and works fine sice the beginning when i recall right
#3 What you want is more like an IDE designer Kind of thing I'm about to improve usability _combined_ with comfortability and visibillity

You can do this by adding panel with windows can hover option + set plasma theme for that panel with trasparent background, if you like.

With this idea you could group some Plasmoids to behave like in the Panel (horicontal Layout) or in another way.
