[KParts] Look for free shortcuts

Fri Jun 05, 2009 8:58 am
Hi!
There is a KPart and it has some Shortcuts. Some of them are also available in the embedding application. For example Konqueror provides ctrl+f and the editor-component provides ctrl+f.
When you press ctrl+f, the editor-action should be invoked. But KParts should also look for free shortcuts for Konqueror. For example alt+f, meta+f, ctrl+shift+f, ctrl+alt+f... could be candidates. The first free shortcut should be used for the parent application. When there is no such free shortcut, the shortcut in the parent application should be disabled.

I would recommend that the loaded KPart simply overrides the applications shortcuts.

I have said so. ;)
First the KPart should overwrite. Then the parent could look for new shortcuts. Not vice-versa.
