In Kubuntu 9.04 (and I suspect in other distros too) the default behaviour for renaming files is to use a modal dialog to enter the new name. However, the renaming on the desktop Folder View is done inline. I think this is inconsistent and can be strange for the user to deal with two methods for the same task.

I know this behaviour can be changed in Konqueror and Dolphin but not in Folder View. I think some possible solutions are adding a setting to Folder View to let the user choose its preferred method or (better in my opinion) change the Folder View behaviour to match the Konqueror/Dolphin setting.

At least, I think Folder View should use a dialog for renaming by default, given that this is the default settings on the file managers and that the current implementation of renaming is still a bit buggy (why don't they share the same code?).
