[Kopete] Scriptable status message

Fri Jun 05, 2009 1:18 pm
The idea is to use output of a command as the status message in kopete. IMHO this would be a really cool feature, you could use fortune to show nice aphorism, could use it to sow systeminfo, and what else not.
At the moment one can use
Code: Select all
dbus-send  --session  --dest=org.kde.kopete  --type=method_call  --print-reply  --reply-timeout=2000  /Kopete org.kde.Kopete.setOnlineStatus string:'' string:$(command)

but it's not that friendly, an kopete plugin that can do that would be really cool

I really like this idea. People can check system performance on status, so they know I don't use my computer already ;-) .

I like this one too. With it I could set status text to current music in xmms2 (currenly there is no support for it in Kopete I believe).

Do not try this at home, part 1. Second most favorite command after KDE upgrade: # chmod -x /usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd
