I think it is neccessary to create "Merge dialog" for merging contacts in KAddressbook. The purpose is to allow user to select for each field values that should be left from the list of merging ones.
Also it will be useful to create autodetection of such choice - for example if in contact_1 the field "Given Name" is filled, and in contact_2 "Given Name" and "Family Name" filled, than values (for this fields) from contact_2 should be preffered.

Hmmm...

In my opinion this would complicate the merging of contacts. So, this should be optional and not be enabled by default.

Also ability to pin contacts in different address books, so change in one would make a change in all.

I would make the merging only possible when you select multiple contacts. And then it would show up as "Merge Contacts..." on the context menu.

The merging would bring all contact info from all highlighted contacts into the highlighted contact with focus. After successful merging all highlighted w/o focus contacts would be deleted except the highlighted focused contact.

There would be conflicts and user would be prompted which info to keep/loose/change.

This way I think, it wouldn't be complicated, right?
